Case studies and data collection were conducted in partnership with the University of Georgia Extension, Oregon State University, and Ag Metrics Group.

  • Laserweeding increased premium-grade, single-center onions by 16% compared to herbicide-treated onions.

    Location: Idaho, United States

  • Laserweeded onions were 36% firmer than those treated with pre- and post-emergent herbicides extending storage time.

    Location: California, United States

  • Laserweeding produced 53.66 tons per acre, with 45% colossal and 40% jumbo grade processing onions.

    Location: California, United States

  • Laserweeding enabled direct seeded onions, boosting bulb diameter and weight by 200% compared to herbicide alone.

    Location: Georgia, United States

Direct Seeded Viability

In Vidalia, Georgia, 11,000 acres of onions are 100% transplanted because currently there is no weed management program for direct seeding that is viable.

This study aimed to demonstrate the efficacy of laserweeding for direct-seeded onions and evaluate the quality and yield differences between laserweeded and herbicide-treated onions.
